#Tillman Tuesday Giveaway - The Name Game!

It's finally Tillman Tuesday again! Seems like more than a week ago, doesn't it?? Anyway, the Tillman Tuesday Question of the Day is... How did you get your Name??

I was named after late NFL football player and U.S. Army Ranger Pat Tillman. Sully was named after Captain "Sully" Sullenberger, the airline pilot who safely landed the plane in the Hudson River in 2009. Rose was... well, she just looks like a Rose, right?? BOL! Actually, she got that name cuz she rode in the Rose Parade on Jimmy Van Patten's Lap, when she was a puppy. Awww.

Let's start with the easiest...Cassie, my papillon got her name from the constellation Cassiopeia & Apollo was named after the roller coaster at Busch Garden's-VA, Apollo's Chariot. JC is my mother's first & middle name initials. He almost died when he was born and my parents fought to save him. It worked so she named him JC and it stuck. Simba, geee...Lion King was popular at the time. =) But I also had Nallah before she died way too young. Their full names were a play on The Lion King and Lady & the Tramp, so of course their other son that I have is Scamp. So there you have it:
Cassie - the stars
Apollo - a roller coaster
JC - mom
Scamp & Simba - Disney Movies.

well each one of my girls was a rescue and had names already- except one we changed and figured it was only right to keep the names they had- their life was already tossled enough but their nicknames which they answer too are things like bubblebutt- because she is a butthead and block the others from getting thru unless they want to crawl under or jump over her which they do- we did change one dogs name because it was an evil name and she was abused and named her princess- that was the only one we named because she is the princess of the house under our queen bee. We have a goldy, a princess, bear (after the cubs/bears but we did not name her and love the cubs) we have rescues in and out too we foster till they find homes. @mom4everever

Where to start...my oldest kitty (13 Years) used to go completely around the room without touching the floor. (think sofa, curtains, etc) so I named him Monkey which later was shortened to Monk. People still look at me funny when I call his name. My 2nd kitty made a strange little noise when she was small, so I named her Sqeak. I "aquired" a solid black kitty who just looked like a Leonard.
And then there are my pups. My male Morkie had a dark ring under his nose which my husband said made him look like an older man he once knew, so his name is Tucker. My sweetiepie female Yorkie is small and super sweet natured...she reminded me of a teacher I had in school who was that way, so she is Maggie after her. And our Beagle has a red nose...when we got him he was a tiny little fellow. I named him Rudolph which was later shortened to Rudy.
That about does it :D

PURL & THEKINDLE
Xmas 2010, my mother was dead a year, my brother had put his dog down. he couldn't afford major surgery and had been foreclosed on. Over my objection, my mothers death brought on a mental collapse, he moved into our mothers house with me. We were threatened with foreclosure Xmas week. I had a coupon for a free chocolate bar at Walgreens and needed medicine for a cold, I couldn't afford the medicine. Took my bro to Walgreens. Saw this beautiful Kitten living outside, told off the Walgreens Manager. All these people with homes would not take her home. Next week we had freeze warnings, my own cat was in the last week of her life. She survived 3 years after the 1987 food recall, with CRF. I went out 3 times one night with a terrible cold and a chronic condition, to get Purl to come out of hiding in the dumpster. I was below freezind. Finally, picked her up with food in the morning. When I met her she needed a sweater. I couldn't afford to buy one for her, so I called her PURL. My cat died New Year's Eve in my arms, while I cried hysterically. I placed Purl on Petfinder. Two weeks later, we had raised the money to stay in the house and I saw Purl was pregnant. Named most of the Kindle EZ names for adoption, except for SWEETIE. "SWEETIE don't do that", I was uttering repeatedly after 6 weeks. She's first born, always in trouble. After I discovered shelters killed kittens and the number of animals abandoned in my county, I sold a silver necklace and drinking mug-family heirloom to get SILVER (the runt) and her Sister back from a no kill shelter with Viral problems. I kept them all with the help of the Pet Food $ettlement in the Spring/Summer of 2011 and a Vet. It's the family I wanted all my life. Many of my human family (not my closest) are real trash. I was named by my Grandmother after a Movie Star, that's where the drama started. @Unchat

@PittiePupLegend Legend got his name after not having one for two weeks after I got him. I wanted sonething different and that people wouldnt forget. Since he's a big male american pit bull terrier that you cant miss him out on a walk and he's changed alot of peoples minds about how a pit bull really is it stuck! (he was NOT named after the movie I AM Legend. He was born well before that movie came out)

Zeke (Eichen Z D'Oberwager), a malinois, was named for a tv character... Lieu (Lieutenants Seminole Wind), a lab mix, was named for another character on the same tv show and a country song by John Anderson... Bogey, a boxer, was named for Humphrey Bogart... Shorty and Gunny, mastiff mixes, were named for an ex-boyfriends military nicknames... Marley, a lab/hound mix, came with her name but certainly lives up to the reputation of the original Marley (of Marley and Me)

Bear!
My English bulldog's name is Bear. When he was a puppy I was having a hard time naming him. But with his brindle color and stature it fit perfectly. I know now it was the best name for him because When people see him walking down the street, they say "I thought you were walking a bear down the street!"

MacGilliciddy is after mama's first male bully, Fletcher MacGillicuddy (RIP). I never knew him, but I'm honored to carry on his name!
My sissy, Precious Junebug, has the honor of carrying on the name of mama's first female bully, Precious Lovebug (RIP).
And pug brudder, Giorgio Armani, was already named when mama got him. His pug mama and daddy are Tiffany and Louis Vuitton! (They think they're all that, but we know better!) BOL!!!

We are two basset hounds and a guinea pig. Cooper : My dad is a Montana Redneck and named me after his expensive tires. Miss Ellie May: I was named after an old show called the Beverly Hill Billies lady character (who was she? the show was way before my time.) Belle: I was named after the Disney girl (she becomes a princess) from Beauty and the Beast. I am told that belle means beauty so I am happy about that.

Lumpy came into my local animal control when he was just about six months old. He had horrible Demodex and had hardly any fur, a secondary skin infection, had cherry eyes, food allergies, and was malnourished. The dermatologists at the LSU Vet School think he had been used as a bait dog. He never acted like a puppy. He would just lay around like a lump. So, his name became Lumpy.

Bozz came with his name so I did not change it.

Brees came with the name Otis. He had been horribly abused. He lived outside under a porch. He was covered in fleas, had a secondary skin infection, bilateral entropion, pinched nares, and an elongated soft palate. We got his skin cleared up, his eyes, nares and palate fixed and ended up foster failures. Brees had been horribly abused by a man. It took him three days to warm up to my husband. I changed his name from Otis as I did not want him to keep the name he had been abused with. I named him after Drew Brees, the quarterback from the Saints. The Saints were always underdogs but became champions. Brees is now a champion!

We adopted our Chihuahua from Animal Services. She was seized with over 250+ other Chihuahuas in horrible conditions. She is really, really .....should we say shy : ) so we gave her a pretty name to go with her personality -Shyla.

Mom and Dad named me after Zoe Saldana. They had seen a couple of movies with her acting in them and really liked the name. When they brought me home as a baby they decided to call me Zoe because she was pretty feisty in the movies and thought it would be a good name for a feisty Boston Terrier!

Our dog was adopted from a local shelter and his original name was 'Winky', but we decided to change his name because he only has one eyeball and we did not want to keep a name that was focused on his eye. We renamed him Dumpling because he has white fur and is as cute as a little dumpling!

Then we have Cujo, who was named because he was a "nasty" kitty, but when he came to us, we found he had the best personality we have ever seen in a cat
